Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. When the page loads, the current gram (pure, 24-karat) gold price is fetched automatically and filled into the price field; you can re-fetch it at any time without reloading the page using the "Get Current Price" button. The price field always stays editable, so you can also look it up from your jeweler/bank and enter it manually — in every case the entire calculation runs in your browser.
Fineness expresses the proportion of pure gold in an alloy, in parts per thousand (e.g. 22-karat gold is 916 fine, meaning 916 grams of every 1000 grams of alloy is pure gold). In this tool, 24 karat is fixed at 1.000 (treated as pure/"has"), 22 karat at 0.916, 18 karat at 0.750 and 14 karat at 0.585 — these are fixed purity ratios, not prices.
The "pure gold price" you enter already represents 24-karat/pure gold, so the 24-karat option applies a fineness of 1.000 (no discount). Some worked 24-karat products (such as cast or minted bars) are sometimes quoted at 0.995 or 0.999 fineness in the market — if your item's certificate states a different fineness, you can multiply the pure price by that ratio yourself.
The weights of ziynet gold coins such as quarter, half, full, Ata and Cumhuriyet gold can vary by a few milligrams depending on the mint, minting year and wear. The weights used in this tool (quarter ~1.75 g, half ~3.50 g, full ~7.00 g, Ata full/Cumhuriyet ~7.20 g) are the standard values commonly accepted in the market — trust your jeweler's precision scale for the exact weight.
This value is the product's total weight (× quantity) multiplied by the pure gold price, before the fineness ratio is applied. The "Calculated Value" field shows the price of the product's actual pure-gold content (with fineness applied); the "Pure Equivalent" shows what the product's total weight would be worth if it were pure gold, for comparison purposes.
