Marketplaces typically apply a VAT-inclusive charge for the commission service (and shipping/service fee, if any) they take from your sale. This tool calculates that deduction separately based on the commission rate and VAT rate you enter, and subtracts it from your net proceeds. If your own marketplace's invoicing/deduction structure differs (e.g. VAT-exempt commission, separate service fees), adjust the rates accordingly.
Net proceeds is calculated by subtracting the commission amount, the shipping/service fee, and the full VAT on both of these from the sale price. In categories with a high commission rate, or when the shipping fee is high, these deductions can add up to a significant portion of the sale price — you can review the individual line items (commission/VAT) in the result to see exactly where the deduction comes from.
When you enter a product cost, the tool subtracts that cost from the net proceeds and separately shows your net profit and profit margin (net profit / sale price). This field is optional — if you leave it empty, only the commission/VAT deduction and net proceeds are calculated, and the profit section stays hidden.
It may not necessarily match exactly. Marketplaces can apply category-specific commission rates, campaign/promotion deductions, return/cancellation fees, advertising spend and other line items that are not included in this tool.
