Frequently Asked Questions

The first digit indicates the general category of the response: 1xx informational, 2xx success, 3xx redirection, 4xx client error (the sender did something wrong), 5xx server error (something went wrong on the server side).

On the client side, the most common are 400 (Bad Request), 401 (Unauthorized), 403 (Forbidden), and 404 (Not Found). On the server side, 500 (Internal Server Error), 502 (Bad Gateway), and 503 (Service Unavailable) are the most frequent.

401 means authentication is missing or invalid — the client could retry by logging in or providing a valid token. 403 means the client is authenticated but simply doesn't have permission to access this resource — logging in again won't fix it.
