Example for workplace rent: the gross of the net amount paid to the property owner is calculated, and 20% withholding tax on the gross is paid to the tax office.

This calculation uses the official 2026 parameters (tax brackets, minimum wage exemption, SGK ceiling — Income Tax Communiqué No. 332, Official Gazette No. 33124 dated 31.12.2025). The SGK premium ceiling was raised from 7.5x to 9x the minimum wage as of 1 January 2026 under Law No. 7566. You can update the parameters below. How Are VAT, Withholding Tax and Gross-Net Salary Calculated?

The three calculators on this page bring together the three tax/salary calculations most commonly needed in Turkey: converting a VAT-inclusive/exclusive amount, withholding tax (tax deduction) on rent or freelance payments, and a 12-month table showing how much of a monthly gross salary you actually take home over the year. The gross-net calculation deducts the SGK employee premium and unemployment insurance contribution from the gross salary, calculates income tax on the remainder according to the cumulative tax bracket, applies stamp duty, and automatically subtracts the minimum wage exemption that has been in effect since 2022.

When to use it: to see how much a job offer of "X ₺ gross" would actually put in your pocket net when evaluating it, to fairly compare a new offer against your current salary, to anticipate how a rising income tax bracket during the year will affect your take-home pay, or to estimate your annual net income for personal budgeting. The VAT and withholding tabs are handy when preparing an invoice or rental contract, or for quickly checking whether a price quote is VAT-inclusive or exclusive.

Note: the calculation uses the official 2026 parameters (tax brackets, SGK ceiling, minimum wage), and since these parameters change every year, the tool is updated annually as well; you can also change the values by hand from the "Parameters" panel to match your own situation. Results are for informational purposes and don't replace your official payslip — personal items such as private pension contributions or a disability allowance can change the result. The amounts you enter are processed entirely in your browser; no data is sent to a server.

For freelancers or small business owners, the VAT and withholding tabs can also be used together: since a freelance receipt can have both withholding tax and VAT applied to it, a practical approach is to first do the net-to-gross conversion on the Withholding tab, then carry the resulting gross amount over to the VAT tab to calculate the VAT amount. This way you get every intermediate calculation you need for a single transaction, on a single page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Income tax is calculated on a cumulative tax base: as your earnings grow through the year you move into higher tax brackets and the deduction increases. The month-by-month breakdown in the table shows these transitions.

Since 2022, the portion of every employee's salary equal to the minimum wage has been exempt from income and stamp tax. The calculator applies this exemption automatically.

Yes, for standard cases; but personal items such as private pension deductions, private health insurance, disability allowance or incentives can change the result. This tool is for informational purposes.

The VAT-exclusive amount is the net amount the seller earns for the goods/service; the VAT-inclusive amount is the total the buyer actually pays, including the VAT added on top. Clarifying which one is meant when giving or receiving a price quote prevents amount disputes later on.

Withholding does not apply to residential rent (when the tenant is an individual); the general rate for workplace rent and freelance/self-employed payments is 20%. Some special cases in the Income Tax Law define different rates — that's why the calculator includes a "Custom rate" option, so you can enter the rate that applies to your situation.

Stamp duty is a tax charged at a per-mille (‰) rate on official documents such as a payroll slip. The portion equal to the minimum wage is exempt; the tax is calculated on the remaining gross salary and reflected in your monthly payslip.
